Impact of Trump’s Tariff Policy: US President Donald Trump’s new tariff may rise the prices of iPhones. Apple manufactures most of its iPhones in China. Now, Donald Trump has imposed a tariff of 54 percent on China. If these tariffs remain in force, the price of iPhones can increase by 30 to 40 percent. If Apple does not increase the price of iPhones, it will have to bear the increased cost itself. However, this is unlikely. (Impact of Trump’s Tariff Policy)

According to Reuters, the base variant of the iPhone 16 is currently priced at $799 in the US, which could increase by 43 percent and reach $1,142. At the same time, the price of the iPhone 16 Pro Max could increase from $1,599 to around $2,300.
Even in his first term, Donald Trump had imposed tariffs on products imported from China. He had given some relief to Apple then. However, this time he has not shown any leniency towards the company. In such a situation, Apple will either have to increase the prices or bear the cost itself.
According to Angelo Gino, FRA Research analyst, currently, iPhone’s sales are declining. So, the company will not pass on the entire burden of the increased price after the tariff to the customers.
It is possible that it can put an additional burden of only 5% to 10% on its customers. Experts also believe that Apple can launch its upcoming iPhone 17 with an increased price.
Why is the demand for iPhone decreasing
Apple has been facing a decline in iPhone sales for some time. The company has failed to encourage customers to switch to the new device with its AI features – Apple Intelligence. So, if it increases the price, the demand for iPhone may decrease even more.
