Unverified reports claim that Hafiz Saeed was allegedly attacked by unknown gunmen in the Jhelum area of Pakistan’s Punjab province. His close associate Abu Qatal Sindhi died on the spot allegedly, along with the driver. Several Pakistani social media accounts claim Saeed was in the same vehicle. Saeed was seriously injured. He was taken to Rawalpindi where he reportedly died, though no official confirmation has been made.
PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) leader Samad Yakub also made a significant claim on X, writing: “According to my information, Hafiz Saeed and his nephew were killed in the attack. According to Hafiz Saeed’s son Talha Saeed, Hafiz Saeed is fine, but his voice and tone suggest otherwise.”
This isn’t the first time rumors of Saeed’s death have circulated. Previous claims have proven false. The Pakistani government is reportedly keeping information about the incident highly confidential.
Hafiz Saeed is India’s most wanted terrorist,. Indian government is actively seeking his extradition. He is known as the mastermind behind both the 26/11 Mumbai attacks and the Pulwama attack. Not only India, several other countries have declared him a terrorist, with the United States placing a bounty on him and his organization, Lashkar-e-Taiba, worth approximately $10 million. Saeed has previously been imprisoned in Pakistan on terrorism financing charges.
