Police Stations At Tourist Spots For Enhanced Safety
Pune Highway Congestion: Traffic congestion on highways has been a huge problem. Major highways in city are interlinked and so local commuters travel in huge numbers everyday. It creates long jam during rush hours. To resolve the issue, the authorities will approach the central government and demand for widening roads. Additionally, they’ll propose to build flyovers on highways in the Talegaon, Chakan, and Shikrapur areas. If the Central Government gives a clear nod, these projects will be carried out through the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

In this regard, a meeting was recently held at the Ministry, chaired by Maharashtra’s Deputy CM and Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar. Various development works were discussed in this meeting. It included the development work in Maval Taluka, including roads, water supply schemes, health centers, and the development of the Shri Ekvira Temple area in Karla. Deputy CM Pawar highlighted the necessity of road widening and flyover construction to ease traffic congestion in the Maval region.
Pawar mentioned the delay in work on the Lonavala and Vadgaon (Kanhe) sub-district hospitals and he directed the officials to complete the pending work quickly. The number of tourists visiting Lonavala and devotees visiting Karla are constantly rising. For safety and security, new police stations will be established at both locations.
Notably, Shri Ekvira Devi Temple in Karla attract millions of devotees every year. Till now, there’re no adequate facilities for these devotees and development work is also underway at the temple complex. The proposal has been approved to construct a funicular ropeway at the temple site in Wehergaon. This project will allow visitors to reach the temple more quickly, and Pawar has urged that work on this project be completed at the earliest.
