Shiv Jayanti 2025 : Maharashtra is gearing up for grand Shiv Jayanti celebrations on February 19th, the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. A key initiative is a series of padyatras (processions) in every district, organized by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The slogan for these padyatras is “Jai Shivaji, Jai Bharat,” and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the gatherings virtually.

In Pune, the padyatra, expected to be the largest in the state with around 20,000 youths participating, will proceed from Shaniwarwada to Fergusson College. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will join the Pune procession, which is scheduled to begin at 7 am. Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Raksha Khadse, is also likely to participate, given that Shivaji Maharaj’s birthplace, Shivneri fort, falls within Pune district. Other districts are anticipated to have smaller padyatras, with around 3,000 participants.
The padyatras will feature informational hoardings about state and central government schemes. Participants will receive T-shirts and caps, and are encouraged to wear traditional attire. Beyond the padyatras, additional events are planned in Pune and at Shivneri fort.
The celebrations are a collaborative effort involving various government departments, including sports, higher education, culture, the Pune Municipal Corporation, the police, Sassoon General Hospital, the Skills Development Division, and the Nehru Yuva Kendra. (Shiv Jayanti 2025)
