Three major hospitals in the city have notified health officials about the increasing number of GBS cases. The patients are currently under treatment at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital and Poona Hospital’s intensive care units, raising concerns among local residents.
Dr. Vaishali Jadhav, Assistant Medical Officer of PMC, confirmed the outbreak and announced that the civic body will deploy a team to monitor the situation in affected areas. Blood samples from six patients within PMC jurisdiction have been collected and sent to the Indian Council of Medical Research – National Institute of Virology (ICMR-NIV) for further analysis.
The outbreak has prompted heightened vigilance among healthcare providers, especially following a recent successful treatment case of a female patient with GBS. Health officials are closely monitoring the situation and implementing necessary preventive measures.
