Pakistan’s Champions Trophy 2025 Hosting Rights at Risk as Stadiums Remain Incomplete
Champions Trophy 2025: The ICC Champions Trophy 2025, scheduled to begin on February 19, is facing uncertainty due to delays in the renovation of Pakistan’s cricket stadiums. While the tournament is set to be a hybrid model with India playing all its matches in Dubai, the remaining matches are slated for Pakistan.
However, reports suggest that the three designated stadiums in Pakistan are still under construction, raising concerns about the country’s ability to host the tournament. The International Cricket Council (ICC) is closely monitoring the situation.
If the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) fails to complete the stadium renovations by the deadline, there is a strong possibility that the entire tournament could be shifted to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Despite the ongoing concerns, the PCB remains confident about hosting the Champions Trophy. As a show of confidence, the board is planning to host a tri-series involving Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa in Lahore and Karachi before the Champions Trophy. This move is aimed at assuring fans and the cricket world that the stadiums will be ready in time for the major tournament.
Gaddafi Stadium Update –
The Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, one of the key venues for the Champions Trophy, is undergoing significant renovations. The stadium’s capacity has been increased to 35,000, and it has been equipped with new seats, 480 LED lights, and two digital replay screens. The PCB aims to complete the renovations by the end of January.
