Pune Shivers: NDA Area Temperature Again Drops Below 10°C
Pune Shivers : Pune’s weather has taken another chilly turn as the automatic weather station at the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Khadakvasla recorded a minimum temperature of 8.8°C on Saturday morning. Other areas in the district, including Haveli (9.3°C) and Malin (9.9°C), also saw temperatures dip into the single digits. Meanwhile, the main observatory at Shivajinagar recorded a minimum of 10.1°C.
This fluctuation in temperature aligns with the forecasts provided by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), which had predicted similar trends for the coming days.

The recent temperature variations in Pune are largely influenced by low-pressure areas forming over the Arabian Sea. Though moisture from the region has cleared, the clear skies and the inflow of cold winds from the north have caused the mercury to drop. These clear skies allow long-wave radiation to escape, leading to a natural cooling effect on the land. The IMD has also mentioned that some parts of the city might experience a mild haze during the early morning hours.
Different areas of Pune report varying minimum temperatures due to local geographical conditions. Highly urbanized areas like Magarpatta and Koregaon Park tend to record higher minimum temperatures, while relatively less developed areas like Pashan and NDA experience cooler temperatures. This trend of dipping temperatures below 10°C was also observed in the last week of November, with NDA recording temperatures below 9°C.
According to the IMD, Pune’s temperature pattern is expected to follow this trend for the next 72 hours, after which the city may experience some cloud cover. (Pune Shivers)
