Pune : Pune is currently experiencing a significant cold wave, with temperatures plunging to a chilling 8 degrees Celsius on November 30th. This sharp drop has led to a noticeable chill in the air, forcing residents to layer up in warm clothing.

The cold wave is expected to continue for the next few days, with temperatures potentially dipping further. Local authorities and residents are taking necessary precautions to combat the cold.

Former head of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Anupam Kashyapi, attributed the cold wave to the impact of Cyclone Fengal, which affected the southern coastal regions on November 30th. The cyclone’s anti-clockwise circulation drew moisture out of the air, leading to a significant decrease in temperatures and creating the current cold conditions.

While the cyclone brought severe waterlogging and disruption to the southern coastal belt, it has inadvertently caused a cold wave in Pune and surrounding areas.
