Pune Police Launch ‘Operation Muskan 13’ to Find Missing Children and Women

Pune : Pune City Police have initiated “Operation Muskan 13” to locate missing women and children within the state of Maharashtra. This operation, scheduled to run from December 1st to 30th, 2024, will be spearheaded by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU). Teams from each police station will be actively involved in the search efforts.

According to police records, between January and October 2024, 1,613 women aged 18 and older were reported missing in the Pune city police jurisdiction. Of these, 1,008 have been found, leaving 597 still unaccounted for. Similarly, 121 minor boys under the age of 18 were reported missing during the same period. While 114 have been located, seven remain missing. Additionally, 458 minor girls were reported missing, with 379 found and 81 still missing.

To streamline the search efforts, AHTU officials will visit every police station in Pune City to provide detailed instructions. Senior inspectors at each station will then form special teams consisting of one officer and three constables to focus on locating missing individuals within their respective jurisdictions.

The police are urging citizens to come forward with any information that may aid in the search for missing women and children.
