Sambhal Jama Masjid Survey Amidst Stone Pelting and Arson
Sambhal : A tense situation unfolded in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, when a survey team was attacked with stones by a furious mob upon their arrival at the Jama Masjid. The survey, which lasted approximately two and a half hours, was eventually completed under heavy security. Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain was part of the survey team.
Due to the escalating tension during the court-ordered survey, the DIG of Moradabad, Muniraj, and the ADG of Bareilly Zone, Ramit Sharma, were dispatched to the site. Additionally, three companies of PAC were deployed in the area.
DGP Prashant Kumar stated that the situation was under control and that those involved in the stone pelting would be identified and action would be taken. He reiterated that the team was there to conduct a survey as per court orders.
To control the mob, the police were forced to use tear gas, and the survey team was escorted out through an alternate route. Despite this, some individuals were seen shouting slogans as the team was being escorted out.
The survey, which lasted from 7:30 AM to 10:00 AM, was completed by the Advocate Commissioner. The entire process was videographed and photographed. The Advocate Commissioner will submit their report on November 29.
The report will detail the findings of the survey. It is worth noting that the team, led by senior advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain, had entered the Jama Masjid for a second survey following a claim that the Mughal-era mosque was built on the site of an ancient Hindu temple.
